At the beginning of my research project 'Purification Lab', I was associating the process of art production with the process of purification and production of cocaine in the marginalized neighborhoods of South America.
This alchemy produces a precious product of great social and economic value, as is the value of art in our modernity.
This process requires basic materials provided by nature, some additional chemicals, and human labor. Human work in colonial countries is carried out under illegal conditions, exploiting indigenous peoples and supported by a political structure or government action that supports it. This fact supposes a current crisis and covert slavery within the social context of the colonial countries.
